@ Accommodation

Finding somewhere to stay will probably be one of the most important decisions you will need to make. If you are staying for a short time the cheapest option is a Youth Hostel: check out Yazabo Youth Hostels for all of the latest updates and offers.

If you are planning on staying for more than a few weeks then renting is the best option for a longer stay. As a general guild; for a budget single room in a shared house you can expect to pay between £60 - £80. And between £80- £120 for a double.
Most landlords will ask for 1 months deposit and 1 months rent, but its always worth negotiating.
Yazabo tip: There can be a big difference between standards especially with the cheaper £60-£70 rooms so its worth spending some time checking out different places.

If you are looking for accommodation through an estate agency, they will charge you about £100 to carry out a financial check on you and for drafting up the contacts to sign on behalf of the landlord. If you want to save money its better to deal directly with the landlord through a classified advert such as the ones on Gumtree.com

If you want to rent a flat or house you will typically have to sign a contract for one year with an opt-out option after 6 months.
Yazabo Tip: Always take photos of the rooms and carpet when you move in and make sure you inform the estate agency and landlord if anything in the house is damaged. Sometimes a bad landlord will try and hold back repaying a deposit claiming he needs to keep it to repair “damages"
